Midlands Cross Country Relays

Aldersley Leisure Village, Wolverhampton, Saturday 21 October 2018

Charnwood AC athletes returned to Aldersley, home of the Wolves Academy, for the first team XC event of the season.

The club were well represented and took two Midlands team titles and a team Silver medal as well as a lot of other great performances.

The day started with the U13 Boys and Girls teams setting off together. The Boys A team finishing 9th (Frankie Bevilacqua-Masunda, Charlie Coleston-Shields and Sam Haines), the Boys B team finishing 11th (Harry Foord, Jake Blythe and Harry Blewitt-Jenkins). Emlyn Brown also ran as an incomplete C team. The Girls A team finished 7th (Gracie-Rose Walters, Emelia Unwin and Savana Smith) with Amy Blythe running as an incomplete B team.

Following that the U15 Boys and Girls set off with high expectations and didn’t disappoint. The Girls A team of (Amelie McCann, Lucy Morrison and Lexie McLoughlin) finished in second place and the Boys A team (Sean McCann, Alex Coleston-Shields and Colin Foord) took the victory and were crowned Midlands Champions. Max Potter and Ethan Day ran as an incomplete boys B team.

In the Senior Women’s race there was a very exciting women's race – with a large field, run with the men, 3 x 6k legs - which Charnwood won. The A team (Juliet Potter, Jane Potter, Katie Lomas) won quite convincingly but the B team (Elsie Buttler, Eleanor Here, Natalie Eggington) were also in medal contention throughout, just missing out in 4th place in the end.

The squads now move on to the National Cross Country relays in Mansfield next month.
