You are welcome to come down to watch training and see what goes on at Charnwood AC.

Training is held at the Loughborough University Track on a Monday and Wednesday evening from 6.30pm. You can train on either or both evenings. Your first session is free to try it out and then training fees are £3.00 for members, £6.00 for non members per session.

We have an under 11 group which currently trains on a Monday only but may be extended to a Wednesday night also. This group train mainly on the track and indoor in the High Performance Centre (Hipac) in winter but also get the opportunity to go around each of the other groups to try out longer distance, throws, jumps, hurdles etc. This group is very popular and sometimes there is a waiting list. The coach Andy Venables or one of the leaders will then let you know whether there is room and when your child can start, or will add them to their waiting list.

Other groups are available depending on which event you would like to try – there are facilities at Loughborough for most events, high jump, long jump, triple jump, pole vault, sprints/ hurdles, middle distance, javelin, shot putt, discus, hammer etc. You also have the opportunity to try new events rather than just stay in one training group.

Charnwood AC competes in various leagues – young athletes’ league, junior athletes’ league, and senior league events and has teams for all age groups. You will have the chance to compete in these teams which are selected on performance.

Membership is £37 per annum and runs from March to the end of February and entitles you to pay members’ rates for training and to compete for the club. It also covers your affiliation to UKA. Families are entitled to a reduced membership rate of £27.00 for the third and subsequent family member living at the same address.


If you are renewing your membership, the cost will rise for late renewals to £40.00 after April 1st 2019 and £45.00 after May 1st 2019, so please make sure you renew your membership promptly.
