Midlands Indoors Championships 2019

Charnwood sprinters and hurdlers had a successful indoor campaign at the Midland indoor Championships which was held over two weekends, winning six silver medals, the short sprints being held last weekend at Alexander Stadium and the long sprints this weekend at the Birmingham Indoor Arena as part of the Birmingham Games.

Leading the way was last years’ Midland and England U17 gold medallist, Victoria Johnson.  Competing in the U20 age group for the first time she took the silver in both the 60m hurdles and 60m with 9.03 secs in the hurdles and 7.91 secs in the sprint.  U15 hurdler Nate Mills also won silver in the short hurdles as did team mate Jody Smith in the U20 60m with a time of 7secs.  Just missing out in the 60m was Kyle Calhoun in 4th place who was just 8/100 second a second from winning a bronze medal.    However in the long sprint championships Kyle Calhoun joined his team mates winning silver in the U20 200m as did U17 Joe Thorton in the 400m with an indoor PB of 52.03 secs
