YDL LAG 2019 - Stoke

Last Saturday 18th May saw Charnwood AC once again competing in the YDL Lower Age Group (U13/U15) at Stoke. Having won the previous match in late April by nearly 100 points with a team of over 50 athletes hopes were high, not least for better weather than previously!

Once again over 50 athletes competed, and with some coming into the team for the first time, and others covering events for those missing, this was a great show of the strength in depth that we have at the moment.

There were some great performances throughout the day by athletes in all events and across the age groups, too many to call them out individually. As ever, the team managers were very proud of each and every one of the team and our warmest congratulations and thanks for everyone who took part.

Although the announcers never gave the team positions at any stage throughout the day, we were pleased to learn (later in the evening) that we had won the match again though with Coventry now hot on our heels. The match results and current standings after two matches are:

Full results here.

As ever, none of this is possible without the great support of the parents (especial thanks to those who helped the officials) and the officials themselves. The team gets points for providing officials and parent helpers, and these, along with all those extra points from athletes doing extra events out of their comfort zone, make the difference in the end.

We are on track for being part of the promotion match on 20th July, please keep this date free if at all possible.
